Aloha Waikiki!
|
| Honolulu, April 16, 2005: The fabled Art Deco Waikiki Theater bites the dust. The Waikiki Theater once housed a tropical jungle of coconut, lauhala, and banana trees on both sides of the interior. Rolling clouds could be seen moving across the ceiling. All this is no more. I guess that's progress. |

Built in 1936, the Waikiki Theater featured a pool that was surrounded by brass plates with hollywood movie stars' autographs engraved in them. Inside, music was supplied by a large pump organ below the screen.
